Insect Magick

I just wanted to seek out for some people who have experience with insects in any way. They are "bugging" me lately, in a positive way. But besides the insect tribe in Papua New Guinea I didn't discover much yet. There is a nice text on sacred-texts with a connection from Shintoism to insects.

Anybody any stories, any sources of knowledge to insects & magick.

That sounds very interesting. I would love to listen to you and / or get in touch with some of that material of yours. Maybe in the end I might be able to help you out in one or another way.

I would love if we could go deeper in that subject, maybe write me on ja@ichbinadrian.ch?

      deepest regards

I'd been interested in reading or hearing more about insect magic and
        any recommended sources.
        cheers

There is a tiny bit of a teaser in a kenneth Grant book. The chapter is called the Cult of Ku. The Term Gu refers to a worm spirit. Li Shi Chen writes about inslaving insects sould to do battle with other Magicinas insect spirits.
I have been focusing on medicine since battling diseases is great practical experience to deal with non human residing spirits.

I appreciate your referencing the idea of insect magic and am willing to accept that the information may be rare... but all three of the examples you gave do not pan out in searches. Can you be any more forth right with useful accessible information.
            Thank you.
            RR.

Gu Medicine is a Chinese Medical theory that relates to specific Chong worm / parasite, conditions and treatments - sometimes refered to as invisible so maybe spirit...

Extensive searches on Li Shi Chen and various spellings of that name with Gu and insects show only his extensive listing of plants to deal with spirits, and no mention of insect spirits...

Kenneth Grant on Cult of Ku - refers to a snake but no mention of insects....

"A little known aspect of Spare, an aspect that links up with his friendship
with Thomas Burke,(20) reveals the fact that a curious Chinese occult society-
known as the Cult of the Ku- flourished in London in the nineteen-twenties.
Its headquarters may have been in Peking, Spare did not say, perhaps he did
not know; but its London offshoot was not in Limehouse as one might have
expected, but in Stockwell, not far from a studio-flat that Spare shared with
a friend. A secret session of the cult of the Ku was witnessed by Spare, who
seems to have been the only European ever to have gained admittance. He does,
in fact, seem to have been the only European apart from Burke who had so much
as heard of the Cult. Spare's experience is of exceptional interest by reason
of its close approximation to a form of dream-control into which he was
initiated many years earlier by Witch Paterson.

            (20) 1886-1945.

The word Ku has several meanings in Chinese, but in this particular case it
denotes a peculiar form of sorcery involving elements which Spare had already
incorporated in his conception of the New Sexuality. The Adepts of Ku
worshipped a serpent goddess in the form of a woman dedicated to the Cult.
During an elaborate ritual she would become possessed, with the result that
she threw off, or emanated, multiple forms of the goddess as sentient shadows
endowed with all the charms possessed by her human representative. These
shadow-women, impelled by some subtle law of attraction, gravitated to one or
other of the devotees who sat in a drowsy condition around the entranced
priestess. Sexual congress with these shadows then occurred and it was the
beginning of a sinister form of dream-conrtol involving journeys and
            encounters in infernal regions.

The Ku would seem to be a form of the Fire Snake exteriorized astrally as a
shadow-woman or succubus, congress with which enabled the devotee to reify his
'inherent dream'. She was known as the 'whore of hell' and her function was
analogous to that of the Scarlet Woman of Crowley's Cult, the Suvasini of the
Tantric Kaula Circle, and the Fiendess of the Cult of the Black Snake. The
Chinese Ku, or harlot of hell, is a shadowy embodiment of subconscious
desires(21) concentrated in the alluringly sensuous form of the Serpent of
            Shadow Goddess."

I have a rare translation of some Li Shi Chen
The internet is powerful but not sure how many Clasical medicine texts are on there. PRobably in Chinese.
I'll also re read the chapter on hecate's fountian. I found the information to apply quite well when I read it before. The beauty of Grant is that it translates well into the systems the reader is working with.
Wade-Gilles phonetic transcription, used by Crowley, Grant and others of that era uses the term KU while the same book using PinYin spell it gu. I'll write Heiner tomorrow , the guy who wrote the Gu Medicine article you probably found online. If I am mistaken he will correct me and I'll post.
It is an extensive system and I know at least one other person who has studied it. I am reluctant to give away knowledge to strangers on the internet but one thing I feel comfortable recommending is the research on insects (and spiders) done in homeopathy. Massimo MANGIALAVORI, MD will give you an amazing sensitivity to the vibrations of spider conciousness (get it? it's a joke. Sensitivity to vibrations of spiders.) www.minimum.com/b.asp
I'm sure any number of Thelemites will tell you ways to invoke or evoke Sung Beetle consciousness.
Praying mantis kung fu is one way of studying the Mantis.
Although I love this group I do like that there are still some things that are not easily Googled!

grants work only seems to make sense when you have the full story

              Hecate's Fountain
              Outer Gateways
              Beyond the Mauve Zone
              The Ninth Arch

                  Hi Parad,

Thanks for posting more info which makes the whole thing
                  seem somewhat more tangible.

I'm OK with some things being difficult to find (even online)
but when you really want to know info and are willing to dig
ideally you want to be able to get there online or off
                  without unnecessary obstacles.
I'm glad you have the material, now I just want to change things
so that I have more material on this subject.
It would be of value because of a long relationship with a totem
animal insect and the desire to expand the awareness around
                  that relationship in different ways.
I look forward to you follow up and any further posts and
if you want to send me any info by direct messaging,
that would be very helpful as well.
                  cheers

thanks for the second post parad...
gives more weight to the idea and the background...
I don't mind that some things aren't easily googled
but when you want to learn and study something
sometimes it's frustrating when you can't get to the needed materials.
I'm glad you've got them but I don't and I'd like to change that so I have them too.
Main reason is a life long strong totem insect and a
strong value to being able to learn more about and develop that relationship.
Looking forward to any more info you post or please send me a direct message
if you can direct me to any source material.
    Thanks
