Hey... I have a couple of gigs of magickal books to share with all of you... this was part of my original intention when I first created this tribe.

Anyways if anyone has any solutions or spare bandwidth they'd like to donate so this vast amount of information may be shared with all of you or has any genius ideas on how to distribute these books with everyone else please let me know.

Yours truly,

mu

    Maybe a list to start?
Once we know what you've got, we could work out getting individual copies out?
Plus I'm curious what you have. :)

The burn -n- spread idea would work for me.
I would be more than happy to to my part -
you really have quite a collection.

If we can work out a system, I'm in for sure.

        Sharing is good.

            Mu ~

I have a domain with space, I could place about half a gig up in a web directory. I would like to host the Crowley and Focault material. I might also be interested in finding a place to host the psychedelics and Leary material. Unfortunately, I run a web site that sells rare Leary Audio, Video and texts, so I might need to leave the leary stuff alone. (but I might also be willing to release some of this stuff as mp3 too).

I also have a large amount of space for my small Lodge website. I might be interested in hosting some of the masonic documents there, as long as I'm not getting my Lodge in trouble.

I also have a DVD burner, this stuff would fit on 5 DVD's, or fewer if it was all compressed. I'd be interested in burning and sharing if that ends up being the option. We could create an autorun index for each disk...

I also am in posession of a number of old journals from a Western Occult/Tantric fusion Lineage. At some point I will get them scanned.

            Is this helpful?

Hi Mu, I checked out your list & I am impressed. There are a number of E-books that I'd like to read. Problem: my computer has no burner. Is there any way to E-mail these files?

if you sign up with Limewire and put all of those files in a shared folder, people can search for and download them on their own. I have downloaded *some* stuff from there, but more is needed on the network. This is probably the easiest and fastest way for you to share these files. If you were to make them available from a personal website, it would take a lot of time to set it up. I would love to get my hands on some of those texts...please let us know how you decide to do it.

I've had my ebooks being shared on soulseek before in the past... and other P2P networks...

Unfortunately I find having my computer on all the time bothersome as its noisy... and its in the same room I sleep in.

Maybe other people who are more willing can do this? I think our best option is to do a spread+burn approach.

And those people who receive the dvd/cd can then decide to host it on a p2p network or two... ^_^

bittorrent seems to me to be the best way to share large collections. I curently have a group of ebooks, some magickally oriented, up at www.media-underground.net/track...ex.php

I vote is very much so in favor of using bittorrent, I've been on slsk almost non-stop for several years under the name frequency=quantumleapsII and have shared gigs and gigs of similiar information, and would like to make my archives more avbl., but I find it far too difficult to access p2p networks for the average person, burn and spread is too slow and cumbersome to be a worthwhile solution to the task, mostly only serving to get it to people who want it for themselves and their crew as opposed to making it more avbl. and a less egoist pursuit, and given bittorrents speed at handling larger file packs when provided with multiple seeds I think it'd be the best solution, if we could simply find a tracker to exploit, on an additional note we could even support the bittorrent upload speed before ever creating a torrent through burn and spread and in that way enable there to always be more seeds for the archives we upload to be shared, problems there of course however would fall mostly in organizing and coordinating properly, I think the best solution would mayhaps be for us to determine a tracker to use with public torrents and mayhaps make a small page for people to contribute the link to the torrents posted by the proposed group of uploaders....ehh...just ideas...I could mayhaps help though if you guys saw fit?

bittorrent is the only way to do this right. its free, open source, and everyone that downloads shares the content with other downloaders, the only thing you need is one dedicated machine to host the torrent file and let let everyone else torrent away.

actually - the torrent file can be passed around via email or anything else - whats needed on a web server is the tracker

though we'd also need a few volunteers/hosts who'd be willing to seed the torrent...

            mu,

i doubt your going to find many volunteers for this. let me revise my initial idea: install a ftp server on the computer you want to share these files from (ideally not the main machine you use) and allow people to login to the machine and download what items they are interested in instead of (potentially) gigabytes they may not be interested in. people will need to know the IP address of the machine so that they can login to it. if you want to make it easy for people to access, you get get a free dynamic domain name from a dynamic domain name service provider for yourmachine.ath.cx which would be pretty cool imo.

Hmm... rather I think i'd be into creating a torrent per category instead.

So.. for the books it'd be something like:

              - Occult/Thelema
              - Fourth Way
              - Eastern
              - Western
              - 2012

Anyways I'm currently couch surfing at the moment, and don't have my computer gear all set up just yet... so yeah once I've got more of a setup I'll post a message here in the forum about the torrents.

              How's that sound?

Excellent suggestion, andrew! A file server is an economical way to go if you have DSL or other "always on" internet connection. My little brother is running a mail server, an ftp server and a web server off a DSL connection with a free dynamic domain .

If the works were archived in ISO format then torrents could be set up for them that would allow folks to download volumes one through (?) and burn them to CD, or they would be able to ftp as individual files for custom compliations.

Compilations in ISO format could be seeded from mu's home computer until enough other torrents were going if setting up a server via dynamic DNS was not possible for whatever reason.

    Hi there,

First I am glad to join this tribe though I am not fluent in English (more fluent in French :-) ) I am from Algeria.
I would like to thank mu for the 4th way ebooks he has put online. The two other esoteric and magical listings are merely incerdible.
By now I am looking for Maurice Nicoll books. Any idea?
    Thank you once again.

    Sincerely

    Hakim

    Hello, mu!
If you wish to release them under the "free to share but not to modify" distribution agreement The Freebooks Project will be interested in working some, if not all, of your titles into their collection. gorgelink.org/freebooks/
The site is undergoing a face lift, so a freebooksproject group has been created at Google to post announcements and open access ebook resources.
    groups.google.com/group/freebooksproject

Read the first post in the group for a summary of concepts the Freebooks Project site is based on, and if it is in congruence with your own outlook, please get in touch.

(Please forgive the blank profile - I'm new and still sorting data after a hard drive crash - there are pics, avatars and stuff - I just have to find them and get them uploaded.)
