'allo all. i'm a fan of the great joseph matheny (if you haven't heard of him, by all means check out his works--
joseph.matheny.com/
pay especial attention to his book, "whatever happened at ong's hat?". i'm interested to find out if anyone has searched out any members of the travel cults he speaks of; i found a .pdf that purports to be pictures of a cabin in the mountains behind santa cruz, california that once housed a travel cult, but i'm not disposed to believe it. has anyone found more compelling evidence? i'm thinking about trekking down there myself and having a look.

Re: travel cults! real or imagined? (or worse, FICTION?)
Mon, October 31, 2005 - 2:43 PMOng's Hat, travel cults, incunabula has fascinated me since i first stumbled upon it online back in 96 in a thc induced stream of syncronicity online. i have kept up with it off and on over the years. whether its 'true' or not is immaterial to me, i think anything is possible. it did inspire me to think and imagine a lot and just considering NLP and memes etc. (or Burroughs word virus theory) is something to consider here. i would love to visit the traveller's cabin and ong's hat someday. maybe there are some idle eidolons or messages or impressions there. if you find anything out post it here or maybe we should start an Ong's Hat tribe???
