I am new to sigils myself, but I am finding the book, "The Book of Results" to be very useful in helping me find my way through it all.

a favorite quikie way is to make it... which I feel often times charges it.... then stare beyond it for a while (you know using peripheral vision) then burn it while staring as it vanishes.... the fire helps trance out and the unconscious too.

if you meditate alot its prety easy to trance and get an in with the unconscious so not always a need for an elaborate ritual ...... which is sometimes needed too.

another is stickers and tagging for those general purpose good of the people sigil/servitors.

I draw the sigil on paper, focus gnosis into then burn the sigil to fire and forget.

In lieu of buring, just losing it somewhere works.

i've been known to use quite a few different methods. anything from the typical sigil-wanking/anointing method to holding in a wee, to throwing myself on the floor and throwing a good, old, thumping-on-the-floor crying fit. ultimately the idea is to raise the energy, contain it, and choose a type of release that allows you to concentrate the energy into a single point.
personally, i favor the excitatory methods. the meditative methods are generally something i avoid due to my somewhat impatient nature. in my experience, the key has been to raise as much energy as you feel you need, and make sure you effectively contain it.
oh, and lest i forget! BANISH, BANISH, BANISH. before & after undertaking ANY magickal ritual, be sure of your intent and ground yourself in the way that is the most effective for you; the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram is a good start. you can develop your own ritual later...banishing is very important when you're working with any energy that is unfamiliar. it's kind of like the brackets that surround a math equation. a way of separating your magickal life from your mundane life.
